Bruno Guimaraes clarifies cryptic message after his Newcastle exit claim
Bruno Guimaraes has clarified his post-match statement amid concerns that he is going to leave the Newcastle United.
Newcastle came from behind to defeat Southampton 3-1 at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday (25 January) after a brace from Alexander Isak and a goal by Sandro Tonali.
Guimaraes featured for 79 minutes against the Saints, but he struggled to influence the game as he only made 47 attacking touches.
The 27-year-old celebrated the victory which took the club into fifth place on X, but his message caused worry among supporters.
He said, “I don’t know what the future holds, but this team will always fight for the best for our club! +3 and see you next week.”
This instantly sent alarm bells ringing for many supporters who felt that the Brazil international was hinting at a potential transfer away from the club.
Bruno Guimaraes has calmed Newcastle fans
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that other clubs in England and across Europe are also keen on signing him, which is why his message caused so much panic.
Guimaraes responded to his own message to squash any worries by saying, “Don’t worry guys! I am talking about what happens on the pitch. Thank you again for the support today, see you at St. James’ Park.”

The Magpies will be back in action on Saturday (1 February) as they host Fulham in the Premier League.
The midfielder has played 28 times across all competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing eight assists.
