Bruno Guimaraes sends emotional message to Newcastle fans

Bruno Guimaraes has sent a heartfelt message to Newcastle fans on social media whilst the city celebrates the Carabao Cup win.

Over 150,000 fans are thought to have attended the club’s open-top bus parade through the city, as they celebrated their first major trophy in 70 years.

Guimaraes joined the club in January 2022 and quickly become a fan-favourite, with Newcastle fans falling head-over-heels for the passionate Brazilian.

The former Lyon man has never been shy in voicing his appreciation for supporters of the club and was an integral part of his side’s Carabao Cup win over Liverpool.

Bruno Guimaraes sends message to Newcastle fans amid Arsenal links

Following the parade, the 27-year-old posted a plethora of photos of the afternoon to Instagram, captioned: “What a day, man! History made and what a wonderful reception, Geordies!

“Thank you for everything, you deserve all the best. Howay the lads!”

Guimaraes has been linked with a move to Arsenal recently, with his brilliant and consistent performances catching the eye of Mikel Arteta.

Whilst his exit would seem unlikely at the moment, football is full of unpleasant surprises and a big-money move could unlock Newcastle’s ability to strengthen their squad as a whole.

Newcastle look to rebuild off Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak sales

Football Insider Verdict

Whilst Newcastle fans would be quick to dismiss the idea of selling one, both, or either of Alexander Isak and Guimaraes, there may be some benefits to letting them go.

If the Swedish striker were to leave for a figure in the eye-watering £150million range, as has been suggested, the Magpies could easily fix their ailing backline.

Add to that at least £60-70million, possibly more for their captain, and the Magpies’ issues with profit and sustainability rules (PSR) would be a thing of the past.

With a new goalkeeper, two centre-backs, a right-winger and possibly even a striker required, selling their two most valuable assets would give Newcastle the chance to splash the cash on targets such as Matheus Cunha or Man United target Hugo Ekitike.

Whilst unpleasant, the club is keen to continue pushing up the table, which will not be a cheap endeavour and will only be possible with more cash in the bank.
