Bruno Guimaraes sends four-word message to Newcastle teammate Anthony Gordon

Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes took to social media to send a message to teammate Anthony Gordon after their 2-0 League Cup win over Arsenal on Tuesday (January 7).

Guimaraes, 27, missed out on the win over Mikel Arteta’s side through suspension, alongside Fabian Schar as Newcastle reached the League Cup final.

Alexander Isak opened the scoring just before half-time, his seventh goal in five games across all competitions, with a close-range effort coming from a free-kick.

Anthony Gordon, 23, then doubled Newcastle’s lead in the 51st-minute, sending Newcastle to the final to face either Tottenham or Liverpool.

A League Cup win would mark Eddie Howe’s first major piece of silverware, and Newcastle’s first since the Championship title back in 2017.

The Brazil international has been key for Newcastle, despite missing the League Cup semi-final, starting 21 of his 24 games across all competitions, scoring one goal, and providing six assists in his 1988 minutes of action.

The England international took to Instagram to celebrate the win over Arsenal, to which Guimaraes promptly responded by saying: “What a player man.”

Gordon has also been integral to Howe’s plans, starting 21 of his 24 games across all competitions, scoring six goals, and providing five assists in his 1807 minutes on the field.

Newcastle will be hoping to make progress in the FA Cup next as they host League Two side Bromley on Sunday (January 12).
