Bruno Guimaraes sends ‘my king’ message to Dan Burn amid Newcastle exit links

Bruno Guimaraes sent a message to Newcastle teammate Dan Burn amid exit rumours this summer.

The Magpies are in the driving seat to achieve Champions League qualification next season, but a frustrating 1-1 draw with Brighton last Sunday has put pressure on Eddie Howe’s side.

Nottingham Forest sit just two points behind Newcastle, whilst Aston Villa are only a win away from catching up with the North Eastern side.

However, Howe has proven himself capable of revitalising his side when the going gets tough this season.

Newcastle beat Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, winning their first major trophy in 70 years, but not before dealing with losses against Bournemouth, Fulham, and Brighton in the run-up.

The Magpies will welcome fellow top-five hopefuls Chelsea to St James’ Park on Sunday (11 May), in a Champions League six-pointer.

Dan Burn celebrates birthday ahead of Chelsea clash

Prior to their match against the West London side, Burn posted a video of himself celebrating his birthday on Instagram, captioned “33”.

The defender’s teammate and captain, Guimaraes, then responded by saying: “Happy birthday my king legend”.

Newcastle look to hang on to Arsenal target Bruno Guimaraes

Football Insider Verdict

Pete O’Rourke revealed to Football Insider exclusively in March that Arsenal were interested in signing Guimaraes.

The Brazilian midfielder has been a long-term target for the North London side and has three years remaining on a five-year deal that was signed in 2023 [BBC Sport].

However, the North London side will find it tough to do a deal for Guimaraes, who seems to be loving life in the North East.

One point of contention, though, will be if Newcastle fail to qualify for the Champions League this season.

Guimaraes is undoubtedly one of the best midfielders playing in England right now, and will likely be keen to feature regularly in Europe’s premier competition.
