'A real coup' - Stephen Craigan raves about two Celtic January deals
BT Sport pundit Stephen Craigan is impressed by the signings made by Celtic in the last week of the transfer window.
The Hoops managed to add Charly Musonda from Chelsea on loan and the Dundee duo of Scott Bain and Jack Hendry to their squad, in addition to the already signed Marvin Compper and Jack Hendry.
Craigan particularly raved about the duo of Musonda and Hendry, saying that the defender’s arrival will weaken Dundee.
“They did however spend a loan fee on exciting Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda that is a real coup for Brendan Rodgers and his team. Musonda was very sought after so Celtic will be delighted with their signing,” he said, as quoted by the BT Sport website.
“They also spent up towards £1m for young Dundee defender Jack Hendry that doesn’t just strengthen Celtic but it weakens Dundee, as he was their best player.”
Musonda made his Hoops debut as a second-half substitute in the 3-1 win over Hearts on Tuesday, a win that saw the Hoops maintain their 11 point lead over Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
Hendry make well make his first appearance for the Scottish champions in their upcoming match against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Saturday, whilst Bain is likely to be on the bench as Dorus de Vries will continue as Craig Gordon’s replacement in goal.
As well as adding to the squad, the Hoops managed to prevent any of their most important players from leaving in the January transfer window.
The much discussed Moussa Dembele – who scored in the 3-1 win over Hearts – was at the centre of constant speculation about his future, but he is set to remain in Glasgow until the summer.
