Celtic fans have taken to social media to rage at comments made by Hearts manager Craig Levein following Tuesday night’s meeting between the two Scottish Premiership sides.
The Hearts boss took exception to a challenge made by Hoops captain Scott Brown on 16-year-old Tynecastle prospect Harry Cochrane as the Bhoys won 3-1 at Parkhead.
When asked if players should get protection from referees Levein replied: “I think everybody should get a little bit more protection from Scott Brown”, as quoted on PA Sport Scotland editor Gavin McCafferty’s personal Twitter account.

Unsurprisingly, the comments made about the Bhoys mainstay haven’t gone down very well with Celtic fans, with many slaughtering Levein for his comments.
Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to Levein’s comments about Brown:
Craig Levein – “I think everybody should get a bit more protection from Scott Brown really. But we will see”
This loser is a disgrace. Especially after the disgusting “tackles” from his own players in the last match against us. Shameful comments from an SPFL manager.

Has Craig Levein, the perennial loser, mentioned his player spitting on our captain after 4 minutes on Tuesday night?

As if it wasn’t enjoyable enough smashing the jambos on Tuesday, the fact Craig Levein is still whinging about his midfield being ran over the top of, makes it all the sweeter. ????

I can’t believe that Craig Levein, who sends his teams out to blooter anything that moves, is complaining about Scott Brown.

I see Craig Levein is on a quest to outdo himself as the biggest walloper in Scottish football. Chip on the shoulder about Broony much, Craig?

Craig Levein. Words fail me.

I see Craig Levein has hit out with some captivating insight into Scott Brown, all the more remarkable considering his own team have the most bookings and 2nd most red cards in the league, while Celtic have the least of each.
Ann Budge will be proud as punch… ironically.

It will be interesting to see if the Hoops captain responds to Levein’s comments in his own subtle way.
The match between Celtic and Hearts saw the Hoops win 3-1 as they gained a measure of revenge for their 4-0 loss at Tynecastle in December, with the goals coming from Odsonne Edouard, Dedryck Boyata and Moussa Dembele.
The match also saw new loan signing from Chelsea Charly Musonda making his debut.
The win kept the Bhoys 11 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
The league leaders are next in action when they take on Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Saturday.
