Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice react to Reiss Nelson’s shattering injury update

Arsenal stars including Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice respond to Reiss Nelson after he provided an update on his injury.

Nelson made a loan move to Fulham last summer, joining the club until the end of the season without an option or obligation to buy.

While there was interest from other clubs, with West Ham and Leicester City among those in talks with Nelson, the winger ultimately signed with Marco Silva’s team.

However, the 25-year-old has been sidelined for the past few months due to a hamstring injury sustained in December. Before the injury, Nelson had featured 12 times for Fulham, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

He had started to gain more consistency in the first team, earning five consecutive Premier League starts, but his injury has now stalled that progress.

Recently, Nelson gave fans an update on his recovery, and in response, his former Arsenal teammates, Saka and Rice, among others have sent messages of support.

Arsenal teammates show support after Reiss Nelson’s injury

Nelson provided an update on his injury on Instagram, revealing that he has undergone surgery and is “determined to return stronger than ever.”

Saka, who has also been sidelined with a hamstring injury for Arsenal, showed his support by commenting with heart emojis, as did Rice. Aaron Ramsdale also sent a message, writing “we with you” while Eddie Nketiah commented, “God’s plan.”

Injuries have unfortunately been a recurring issue for Nelson. In the 2022/23 season, he missed 17 games and experienced various setbacks during his loan spell at Feyenoord, disrupting his momentum.

Fulham look to Willian to replace Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson

Following Nelson’s injury, Fulham have been forced to search for a replacement to fill the gap on the flanks. The winger’s hamstring injury, which he sustained in December, has already kept him out of 13 games this season. With no confirmed timeline for his return, Fulham opted to re-sign Willian, who was a free agent.

Willian had been linked with a Premier League return after his release, and he chose to return to Silva’s side, where he enjoyed a much-needed revival after a difficult period at Arsenal.

As for Nelson, his contract with the Gunners is set to expire this summer, but there has been no indication of an extension being offered to the academy graduate.
