Bundesliga star clinches Manchester United move

By North-west correspondent Alex Stevens

Manchester United have recalled Adnan Januzaj from his season-long loan at Borussia Dortmund, Football Insider sources understand.

United have requested the Belgium international cut short his loan spell in the Bundesliga and return to the Premier League.

A United source has told Football Insider that the Premier League giants have activated the recall clause in Januzaj’s loan contract and he could link up with the squad as early as this weekend.

The 20-year-old will bolster a forward line that has struggled to create and score goals this season.

He has had a difficult time at Dortmund, where he has made 12 appearances for the Bundesliga club, only three of which have been starts, but manager Louis van Gaal is a firm admirer of the youngster.

Januzaj, who is contracted to United until 2018, played four times for the club in August and scored the winner at Aston Villa before pleading to be allowed to go out on loan to gain experience and regular game time.

But the winger’s time in Germany has failed to live up to expectations. His six league outings have all been as a substitute and he has not featured since a Europa League defeat by PAOK Salonika on 10 December.
