Terry Butcher has revealed that Arsenal and Liverpool both lack a “plan b” and both have “blindingly obvious” areas to improve with signings in January.
Speaking on BBC 5 Live Sport ahead of the Reds v Bournemouth clash, Butcher shared that Arsene Wenger needs to sign a striker and Jurgen Klopp needs to making signings to create a stable back four.
“It’s blindingly obvious to us and it should be to him (Klopp) and Arsene Wenger of what they need,” said Butcher.
The former footballer went on to say that it wasn’t just transfer woes for the two clubs, but both need to get a “plan b.”
“I don’t think Liverpool… They seem to be like Arsenal, they don’t seem to have a plan b or a direct way of playing,” shared Butcher.
“We gotta go four up front instead of three or if you win a game then you go into a back three, I don’t think they do that and close games out.”
Butcher went onto say that he believes Klopp has a “hell or highwater” attitude and believed that Klopp needs to vary the way he plays in order to achieve success.
Arsenal are fifth with 33 points and Liverpool leapfrogged them into fourth spot after a convincing 4-0 win against Bournemouth on Sunday evening.
Liverpool are the third highest scorers in the Premier League this season, with Mohamed Salah currently winning the race for the golden boot.
