Caixinha blasts Celtic star after Rangers loss, delivers verdict on Old Firm clash
By James Black
Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has taken aim at Celtic captain Scott Brown – accusing the midfielder of laying Alfredo Morelos out with an elbow during today’s Old Firm clash.
The flashpoint happened just before the half-time break but wasn’t seen by referee Craig Thomson.
Caixinha and Brown then faced-off as the players left the pitch at half-time as the Rangers boss challenged the Celtic star.
Understandably, the Portuguese manage was livid in his post-game interview, and blasted Brown for his alleged actions.
“Look, I’m not anyone to criticise the referee’s decision, but I am someone to challenge what is happening, and what everybody saw.” Caixinha said to RangersTV, as quoted by the club’s official website.

“When I see those things, I go to the front and I am not someone who just stays in his corner and let things happen.
“I saw an elbow again from Scott Brown – the second time in the same place, on the same pitch in the same match, and nothing happened.”
Brown elbowed Jason Holt last season in the Old Firm clash but no action was taken on that occasion and Caixinha was clearly irate at the treatment his players received.
Despite losing the clash with their bitter rivals, Caixinha was reasonably happy with his side’s performance, telling RangersTV: “I am pleased in general with the performance of all the boys.
“They worked hard and tried to do everything, and the first half was going in the direction we wanted.
“We tried to correct things at half-time, but as I told you, we committed more mistakes than them.”
Rangers travel to Hamilton on Friday night in their next Scottish Premiership fixture and will need a reaction from the players if they are to have any chance of challenging Celtic this season.
Caixinha will be hoping his injury problems ease before then with Lee Wallace, Declan John, Danny Wilson Bruno Alves, Jordan Rossiter and Niko Kranjcar all missing through injury today.
In other Rangers news, Scott Brown has made a big claim about the Gers’ tactics ahead of the Old Firm derby.
