Christian Eriksen deliver a killer pass to assist the only goal in his country’s 1-0 win over Peru in their opening game of the World Cup finals on Saturday – and Spurs fans were quick to praise their star man on Twitter.
In a tight open game from Group C, Denmark somehow kept a clean sheet in the face of some spirited Peru attacking.
Some good goalkeeping from Kasper Schmeichel and some glaring misses (including a penalty late in the first-half) meant that Denmark secured all three points, and Eriksen was at the heart of the action.
He was never afforded much space by the Peru players, who knew he was the main danger man on Saturday.
But in the 59th minute, he picked up the ball, surged forward on the counter-attack and played a sublime through ball to Yussuf Poulsen.
The RB Leipzig star didn’t make a mistake, finishing sublimely and ensuring that Denmark are now one of the favourites to progress through to the knockout stages.
Tottenham fans weren’t surprised to see him pop up with a vital assist – he got 13 for Spurs last season – and flocked onto Twitter to shower him with praise.
