Steven Gerrard’s summer transfer mission is to keep as many members of his Rangers squad together as he can.
That’s according to former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the decision to offer James Tavernier and Allan McGregor new deals.
Tavernier became the most recent senior player to commit to Ibrox as he signed a two-year extension to his existing deal earlier this week.

This followed news that McGregor has signed a new one-year deal as his current contract was due to expire next month.
Campbell insists that Gerrard’s priority will be keeping his key players together and it is no surprise that he is securing the futures of two quality players.
“Steven Gerrard wants to keep as much of this squad together as he can,” Campbell told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

“They’ve won the league at a canter. The squad seems to have gelled together really well and you can never have enough good players.
“You’ve got to secure your good players as soon as possible so I’m not surprised that he’s making sure these guys are signed on.”
Earlier this season, veteran midfielder Steven Davis and highly-rated youngster Nathan Patterson also signed new deals as Gerrard secured the immediate and long-term futures of key players.
Despite already securing the Scottish Premiership title, the season is not over for the Gers as they can still complete a double if they win the Scottish Cup.
