Campbell issues ‘100 per cent’ Man City verdict after Bernardo Silva offer confirmed

Bernardo Silva is “100 per cent” committed to Man City despite missing out on a move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

That is the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 28-year-old’s potential state of mind at the Etihad.

As quoted by ESPN (1 September), Bernardo Silva said “it wasn’t a tough decision” to stay at the club this summer.

The Portugal international revealed one offer arrived for him in the window but confirmed it was not from Barcelona, the club the player was reportedly desperate to join.

Silva started for Pep Guardiola’s side in a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa on Saturday (3 September).

His contract at the Etihad runs until the end of June 2025.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Silva’s future, Campbell said: “You can see he is committed, 100 per cent.

“Everybody knows he’s a world-beater. He is such a talented player. He plays with such grace. That left-foot is a wand. He is beautifully balance as well.

“It takes the top players to unlock low-block defences in the Premier League. City have got a few of them and Bernardo Silva is one. He did it at Newcastle. [Kevin] De Bruyne is another one. All of these guys step up when they really need it.

“I know there was talk of Barcelona but I have not doubt that Bernardo Silva is committed to City.

“They would have been crazy to sell him.”
