Campbell issues two-word verdict on Pochettino returning to Tottenham amid shock report

Mauricio Pochettino clashed with Daniel Levy behind the scenes and there is “no chance” of the Paris Saint-Germain returning to Tottenham this summer.

That is the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about who could succeed Jose Mourinho as manager of the London club.

The Sun made the shock claim yesterday that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is considering trying to persuade Pochettino to leave PSG.

The bookmakers have since slashed their odds on the Argentine returning to Spurs and he is now third favourite behind Roberto Martinez and Erik ten Hag.

Football Insider understands the club are confident of announcing their new manager this week, with Belgium boss Martinez having held extensive discussions over the role.

The well-connected Campbell, who is the guiding force for son Tyrese’s career at Stoke City, is adamant Pochettino will remain at PSG.

“No chance he is coming back,” he told Football Insider. “I honestly cannot see that happening. I just cannot see it.

“I am led to believe Pochettino and Daniel Levy clashed at certain times because Poch did not get the backing he wanted.

“Pochettino has now got a king’s ransom at PSG, so why would he leave? Do not forget that they made it deep into the Champions League once again. He has not even had a full season there yet.

“Yes, they might lose Mbappe but they have got Neymar on a long-term contract and money to spend in the summer. I do not see him going to Spurs where he is going to be hamstrung for money.”
