Kevin Campbell has claimed it would be a “huge blow” if man-of-the-moment Bukayo Saka missed the Arsenal clash against West Brom on Saturday due to injury.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Gunners striker claimed the 19-year-old must be “wrapped in cotton wool” ahead of the Hawthorns showdown.
Saka produced his second man-of-the-match display in four days as Arsenal followed up their 3-1 Boxing Day victory over Chelsea with a 1-0 win against Brighton on Tuesday.
The teenager left many Arsenal fans fretting when he left the pitch with nine minutes remaining at the Amex Stadium.
Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the youngster was “limping” but was hopeful it would not turned out to be a serious injury.
“He is the jewel in the crown right now,” Campbell told Football Insider. “He can player anywhere on the left side and even on the right side.
“He is proving to be a game-changer. I am not sure how bad the injury is but I am glad we took precautions and took him off.
“We need to wrap him in cotton wool, put an arm around him and give him some hot chocolate because he is key.
“I honestly believe he is the difference.
“Arsenal should not have to rely on teenagers but this is where the club is at. It will be a huge blow, without a shadow of a doubt, if he was unavailable.”
Saka scored Arsenal’s third goal against Chelsea to help end a run of seven Premier League games without a win and then provided the assist for Alexandre Lacazette’s winner at Brighton.
The teenager has supplied 15 assists in all competitions for Arsenal since the start of last season, more than any other player at the club.
