Campbell ‘sure’ on Rangers appointing Sean Dyche amid ‘massive’ new claim

Kevin Campbell has claimed Sean Dyche could be tempted by the prospect of fighting for “titles and trophies” at Rangers.

The former Arsenal striker was speaking exclusively to Football Insider with current Ibrox incumbent Giovanni van Bronckhorst fighting for his job after a string of poor results.

Speaking to talkSPORT (10 November), Dyche revealed he is waiting for a “window of opportunity” to open in the Premier League but conceded he could “broaden his horizon” if an offer doesn’t arrive.

He also opened the door to visiting Ibrox for the Old Firm derby in January as he “knows” sporting director Ross Wilson.

Sources told Football Insider on Monday (14 November) that Rangers are increasingly likely to sack Van Bronckhorst in the coming days after a 1-1 draw against St Mirren at the weekend.

That result leaves the Gers nine points behind their rivals Celtic atop the Scottish Premiership – with the Dutchman having already presided over a record-worst Champions League campaign this term.

Campbell suggested Dyche will be “chomping at the bit” to return to management amid links with the Glasgow giants.

He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think he’ll want to get back on the horse.

“The size of Rangers as a club would make it a massive move. To know you’ll be competing for titles and trophies will be a big tick in the box for someone like Dyche.

“The key for him is how long he’s willing to wait for Premier League job. If it’s too long, he could get itchy feet.

“I’m sure he’s chomping at the bit to get back to work.”
