Campbell thrilled by 'amazing' Gordon update amid six-figure Liverpool reveal
Kaide Gordon will be eager to follow in the footsteps of Harvey Elliott as he prepares to make his Liverpool debut tonight.
That is the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about how difficult it is for young players to make “an impression on a big club” like the Reds.
According to the Guardian (20th September), Gordon, 16, is in contention to make his Liverpool debut tonight as Jurgen Klopp’s side take on Norwich City in the EFL Cup.
Speaking to club media in the build up to the clash, Reds assistant manager Pep Lijnders lauded the winger to hint at his involvement at Carrow Road.
The Times‘ Paul Joyce revealed an appearance for Gordon would land cash-stricken Derby County £100,000.
Liverpool signed the teenager from the Rams in a £1million deal in February.

When asked for his thoughts on Gordon’s potential debut and the Derby payout, Campbell told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs :
“It is not about the age, it is about the quality of the player. That is key.
“We have seen what Liverpool have done with Harvey Elliott. He was starting and looking really good before he got injured.
“If Gordon plays, whether it be from the start or off the bench, I can only wish him all of the best. I know how hard it is for a young man to make an impression on a big club like Liverpool.
“If Ljinders is speaking him up and is Klopp is willing to give him minutes that is a fantastic show of confidence in the young man. It will be an amazing moment for him if he plays.”
