The four Rangers players who allegedly broke lockdown rules to attend a party will and should be “made an example of”, according to Kevin Campbell.

However, the former Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, hopes none of those in question are suspended until the end of the season.

This site exclusively broke the news at 7pm on Sunday that Rangers had launched an internal probe into an incident that occurred in the west end of Glasgow on Saturday night.

Football Insider understands four players may be suspended by Rangers until the end of the season after they allegedly attended a party that was broken up by police.

George Edmundson and Jordan Jones were caught in a similar incident in the autumn – the pair received seven-game bans from the Scottish FA and have not played for the Light Blues since.

Senior Rangers stars are fuming there has been a repeat and have let those involved in the latest incident know in no uncertain terms.

When asked for his assessment of the weekend’s incident, Campbell told Football Insider“This is the difference.

“When we talk about breaking lockdown for a haircut – I can understand that.

“But a party? You have to have some discipline. That is part and parcel of being a footballer.

“These players are not showing discipline. They will have to get their knuckles wrapped. They need to be made an example of because that is not on.

“I hope they do not get suspended until the end of the season though.”
