West Brom

Kevin Campbell has claimed West Brom attacker Matheus Pereira is “frustrating” to watch and needs to deal with pressure better.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Albion striker heaped praise on the 24-year-old for his performance against Chelsea but stressed that such form has not been seen enough this season.

Pereira produced a match-winning display on Saturday, as Sam Allardyce’s side ran out 5-2 victors at Stamford Bridge.

He contributed two goals and two assists to boost the Baggies slim hopes of beating the drop this year.

Campbell claimed the pressure would now be on West Brom to turn over Southampton on Monday.

“Wow, Pereira was good,” he told Football Insider.

“The problem is we have not seen enough of it. It was a little reminder of who he is and what he can do. That is why he has been frustrating this season.

“I thought West Brom were fantastic all game long, to be honest. They gave a great account of themselves and met the challenge head one. They dismantled Chelsea.

“To score five at Stamford Bridge, even against 10 men, is incredible. It truly was an incredible performance.

“Listen, beating Chelsea by that score will give them a massive shot in the arm but all games in the Premier League are different. The odd performance here and there will not do.

“West Brom will be expected to win next week and the problem has been players not dealing with the pressure when they should.”
