'He can do anything' - Craig Gordon left amazed by how good Celtic team-mate is

By James Black

Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has been blown away with just how good team-mate Kieran Tierney is – and joked he was going to give him a shot in goals and see how good he is there.

The 20-year-old left-back started in central defence for Scotland on Thursday night against Holland and impressed against the Dutch attackers.

Despite his age and international inexperience – Thursday’s game was only his ninth cap – Tierney was handed the captain’s armband in the absence of regular skipper Scott Brown.

Tierney has been in fantastic form for club and country over recent months and Gordon thinks he’s just an all-round top footballer.

“I don’t really know what his best position is because he can do anything,” Gordon said, as quoted by the Evening Times.

“I want to give him a shot of the gloves and see if he can do that as well!

“I’m sure he could because every position he plays he does exceptionally well.”

Tierney has played in both full-back positions, central defence, wing-back and as a winger for Celtic and Scotland so far this season and has impressed in whatever position he has been asked to play.

The Hoops defender has been a mainstay for Celtic as they have embarked on a record-breaking 63-game unbeaten domestic run – including a domestic clean sweep last season.

Tierney recently signed a new six-year deal to commit his future to Celtic until 2023 amid interest from a host of Premier League clubs.
