'Can't really ask for much more' - Glenn Middleton discusses his move to Rangers
Rangers winger Glenn Middleton admits he “can’t really ask for much more” after signing for his boyhood heroes from Norwich City on transfer deadline day in January.
The 18-year-old has made a big impression with the Gers Under-20s since his move north and revealed he had to pick himself up after falling out of favour at Carrow Road.
Middleton admitted he was hopeful of first-team football with the Canaries but things didn’t work out as he hoped before sealing a move to Ibrox.
“I am coming in to work at the club I have always supported, that I have followed all my life. Me and my dad used to come and watch the games and now I am a Rangers player. You can’t really ask for much more,” Middleton said, as quoted by the Pink ‘Un.
“I was at Norwich for six years and just worked my way up. I was playing in the 23s when I was 15.
“I was always looking to the first team but, as can be the case in football, things don’t work out as smoothly as you would like sometimes.

“It was a case of if someone didn’t fancy you, you have to move on. You pick yourself up and you go again.”
The Scotland Under-19 international has been a key player for the Gers Under-20s since his move and impressed again during the 6-0 win over Leicester City earlier in the week.
Middleton’s performances have seen fans calling for the 18-year-old to be promoted to the first-team before the end of the season as a reward for how well he has done in the Light Blues’ second-string.
Football Insider verdict
Middleton has really impressed since moving north and Norwich must be kicking themselves at letting such a talented player move. The Scotland youth international must be close to earning a spot on the bench for the first-team and if his performances continue to impress he could even find himself as a regular part of the first-team squad next season. Middleton’s comments also show a maturity beyond his years and the 18-year-old really seems to have his head screwed on properly.
