Caoimhin Kelleher backed to complete Liverpool move - 'it's happening', says pundit

Frank McAvennie has insisted Liverpool will be able to command a big fee for Caoimhin Kelleher this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker claimed Kelleher is only missing out on game time because number one Alisson Becker is “the best in the world”.

The 24-year-old has three years remaining on his Anfield contract but has been attracting interest from fellow Premier League sides.

Last week (25 May) sources told this site that the Reds are braced for offers in the upcoming window but are determined not to let him leave for a cut-price fee.

The Ireland international has managed just three first team appearances for Liverpool this season.

When asked if Jurgen Klopp’s side will have to compromise on price as a result of Kelleher’s lack of game time, McAvennie told Football Insider:He is a good keeper, I do not know why they would have to compromise on price if somebody wants him.

He is not getting a game because of Alisson who is probably the number one keeper in the world or certainly up there with the best of them.

I do not think they should drop his price because he is not getting a game, he is not getting a game because he is up against the number one.

I think he has got to play, when you are as good as that you have got to play football. If there is a team that comes in for him I think it is happening and he will go, and they will get decent money for him.
