'Concentrate on his fitness' – Rangers flop ordered to take special January training programme
Rangers midfielder Carlos Pena has been put on a special training programme by former manager Pedro Caixinha.
Pena has joined Caixinha’s new club Cruz Azul on loan for the rest of the season and it appears that Caixinha is not happy with his fitness.
Pena caused controversy when he arrived at his new club for a medical, when he seemingly wiped his nose with his Rangers shorts in what fans saw as a mark of disrespect.
According to the Daily Record his own fans booed him on his debut for Cruz Azul, when his side suffered a Copa MX defeat.
And now he’s been put on a special training regime to try to get him back to full fitness.
“We have a break of eight days between games and that’s time for Carlos to concentrate on his fitness,” Caixinha said.
“He will get individual sessions so he can get back to a prime level of match fitness.
“This is a guy who will get us goals from midfield.”
It’s news that won’t make Rangers fans any happier with their striker after his near-£3million move in the summer.
He didn’t impress the current Rangers hierarchy and he was sent off on loan after seemingly playing his final game for the club.
Pena has made just two cameo appearances in the league for Cruz Azul so far, with just 42 minutes of game-time.
