Carney Chukwuemeka could now explode at Chelsea after what pundit has seen

Carney Chukwuemeka could thrive at Chelsea following the arrival of Graham Potter.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Chelsea played a behind-closed-doors friendly against Brighton on 17 September, winning 2-1 as summer signing Chuwuemeka scored both goals.

He signed a six-year contract after joining from Aston Villa in a deal the Daily Mail reported (4 August) is worth £20million.

Wenham claims he is one player who could thrive under the tutelage of Graham Potter.

“I saw they played a behind-closed-doors friendly against Brighton,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“That’s quite a strange one for Potter to go back already. Carney Chukwuemeka got the goals in a 2-1 win.

“Potter has got the best out of young players so he will be looking to impress and he has been a very good player every time I have seen him play.

“Chelsea have very good young players, we know this. So Potter going there could work from that angle too.

“Obviously they have to improve after their start to the season but I rate Potter and I think he will turn them around.”

Chukwuemeka made 15 senior appearances for Aston Villa before moving to Stamford Bridge.

This site revealed on 18 July that the young star wanted a wage of £100,000-a-week if he was to renew his contract at Villa Park – an outlay of £5.2million per year.
