Tony Cascarino has said that Liverpool are third favourites to win the Champions League, behind Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
However, the former striker has said that Roma would be the ideal match-up for them in the semi-final draw on Friday.
Despite getting past Barcelona brilliantly in midweek, Cascarino thinks Klopp’s side will have too much for them and would book their place in the Champions League final.
Writing in his column in the Times, Cascarino said: “They [Roma] had a fantastic win against Barcelona but needed away goals to go through and this would be Liverpool’s ideal draw.
“In Patrik Schick and Edin Dzeko they have two impressive strikers up front but I don’t think facing them would be an issue for Virgil van Dijk and Dejan Lovren.
“With the likes of the former Tottenham defender Federico Fazio in defence, and Alexander Kolarov at left back, I would think Liverpool’s front three would dominate.”
Football Insider verdict:
If Liverpool draw Roma tomorrow then it sets up the possibility of a mouth-watering clash in the final against either Real Madrid or Bayern. Real would be the absolute dream match, pitting Cristiano Ronaldo, the former Man United star, against the front three of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. There are definitely easier ways to win the Champions League, but none better to prove you deserve your place at the top of the European pile. What a time to be a Liverpool fan.
