Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer is looking forward to his battle with Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, in Sunday’s Old Firm derby at Ibrox.
The Colombian striker is one of the in-form players in Scotland, having scored 17 goals since joining the Gers from HJK Helsinki in the summer, and Ajer, who has been superb since becoming a first-regular for the Bhoys, is excited for the challenge that lies ahead.
“Morelos is a very good striker. He runs a lot and fights, so it was tough against him” Ajer said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“But I have been impressed with all the strikers in this league. It’s always a good fight.”
Ajer made his Old Firm debut in the goalless draw between the teams at Celtic Park in December, a match which Morelos miss two great chances to win the match for Graeme Murty’s side.
A win for the Hoops at Ibrox on Sunday would all but clinch the league title, whilst a Light Blues triumph would close the gap at the top of the league table to only three points.

The battle between Ajer and Morelos could go a long-way to determining who picks up the three points in what looks to be a potential title decider. If Ajer wins out, it could well mean that the Hoops have kept a clean sheet and are on their way to three points which would clinch another league title. However, if Morelos is able to continue his good form with a goal or two, the Gers could well be on their way to a season defining victory. A win for the Light Blues would see the gap at the top of the table shrink to three points, and even with the Hoops having a game in hand the title race would truly be on.
