Celtic expert makes Ange Postecoglou exit claim after Tottenham source’s offer reveal

Frank McAvennie is worried about Ange Postecoglou’s potential Celtic departure this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said he doesn’t know where Postecoglou will see his future if he completes the domestic treble next weekend.

On Thursday (25 May), this site revealed that Tottenham have made the 57-year-old a contender for their managerial vacancy after talks with Feyenoord’s Arne Slot collapsed.

Wolves are also believed to be keen on the Australian amid doubts over Julien Lopetegui’s future at the club.

The Hoops hierarchy are aware of the amount of interest in Postecoglou and are ready to offer him a new and improved deal that would make him the highest paid manager in the club’s history.

The former J-League manager has impressed across his first two seasons at Parkhead, wrapping up back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles and is close to securing a domestic treble if his side beats Inverness Caledonian Thistle in next weekend’s Scottish Cup final.

When asked if he is still sure Postecoglou will be at Celtic next season, McAvennie told Football Insider:I think so.

You can never say never in football, you really can’t. If he does the treble, a double and a treble in first two years then I do not know.

Celtic

Celtic supporters are not stupid, they know that Ange will get hunted down by English teams. It is going to happen but we can just hope to get another year out of him anyway, that is what I would like.

Make an impact in Europe, I want to make sure we finish second or third in the group and get Europa League after Christmas. That is my idea of making an impact in Europe, something to aspire to every year.
