Celtic fans have torn into Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos after the striker said he believed the Gers can beat their Old Firm rivals this season.

The Gers lost the opening Glasgow derby of the season 2-0 last month but the Colombian insists his side can turn the tables on their rivals and win in one of the three remaining clashes this term.

“We didn’t manage to get a favourable result this time, but there are at least three more games against Celtic this season,” Morelos said, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“I know we will go and get a good, positive result for Rangers.”

Rangers last win over Celtic was in the Scottish Cup semi-final in 2015 when Mark Warburton’s side won on penalties.

The Light Blues currently trail Celtic by six points in the Scottish Premiership after home defeats to Brendan Rodgers’ side and Neil Lennon’s Hibs.

Last season Celtic finished a whopping 39 points ahead of the Gers.

Celtic fans clearly found Morelos’ comments ridiculous and hammered the 21-year-old on social media.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

The Colombian striker has scored 8 times in 12 appearances for the Gers since his £1million move from HJK Helsinki.

However, he came unstuck in the meeting against champions Celtic and was guilty of several offside offences.

Morelos will be looking for revenge in the next Old Firm derby which is scheduled to take place on 30 December in the league.
