Celtic fans fire shots at David Pleat for his ignorant comments about Scottish football

By Amir Mir

David Pleat has claimed that the big teams in Scotland are full of foreign players – and Celtic fans on Twitter have hit back at his comments.

Former Tottenham winger Pleat was critical of the Old Firm duo and believes that the big teams in Scotland don’t need foreign players.

The BBC Sports commentator was talking about the lack of Scottish talent coming through the system when he made these comments.

Former Premier League winner Chris Sutton slammed Pleat for his “ill-informed” comments about Scottish football.

Sutton was not the only person firing shots at Pleat with Celtic supporters venting their anger at the former Spurs man.

Many slammed the Englishmen for his ignorant comments and stated that Celtic’s first team has a number of Scottish players.

Furthermore, others pointed towards the English Premier League and the number of foreign players that are playing in that division.

The Hoops supporters believe England’s top division is overrated and full of dross as they were equally critical of Pleat’s scathing comments.

One fan stated that there are a lot of English pundits talking about Scottish football, but in truth, they don’t know what they are talking about.

Another supporter pointed out that there were up to six Scottish players in the starting line-up during Celtic’s 2-1 win at Dundee last Sunday, while Crystal Palace’s win against Watford had only three English players.

Overall, the Celtic supporters did not take too kindly to Pleat’s comments about Scottish football.
