Celtic fans love ‘toxic’ Matt O’Riley comment about Rangers today

Celtic fans on social media loved Matt O’Riley’s dig towards Rangers fans ahead of their Scottish Cup final clash on Saturday (25 May).

The midfielder was interviewed ahead of kick-off at Hampden Park and alluded to Rangers fans creating a “toxic” atmosphere.

When asked about the atmosphere during Old Firm derbies, O’Riley told BBC Scotland: “The atmosphere is quite toxic on one side and quite fun on the other.”

The 23-year-old’s comments went down well with Celtic’s fanbase, who went on to celebrate their side’s 1-0 win.

O’Riley has been a standout performer for the Hoops this season, scoring 19 goals and providing 18 assists across all competitions.

He has been linked with an exit from Celtic Park this summer, with reports of interest from Premier League sides.

Celtic fans on social media loved O’Riley’s pre-match comments, with supporters delighted to see the midfielder buying into the club’s huge rivalry.
