Celtic fans: Matt O’Riley could snub Brighton after what Chris Sutton said
Celtic fans are insisting Matt O’Riley could snub a move to Brighton in favour of a bigger club after what Chris Sutton said on social media.
The former Celtic man took to X where he claimed the midfielder should “set his sights higher” than a move to the South Coast club.
He went on to suggest he stay at Parkhead for one more season to compete in the Champions League unless a “big enough” move arrives.
Fans flooded the replies to agree with Sutton, insisting O’Riley could remain ar Celtic for one more year before making the move next summer.
Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie echoed these thoughts earlier this summer as he told Football Insider that O’Riley would turn down a move to a bottom-half Premier League outfit.

Interest from Brighton has emerged as the latest club looking to sign O’Riley after both Leicester and Southampton were reportedly pursuing deals.
However, with recent interest from Atalanta and Atletico Madrid, some of Europe’s top clubs remain interested and could offer him European football.
Many fans have insisted that, if the move isn’t a clear step up to one of the elite clubs, he would be better served staying at Celtic.
