'Absolutely horrendous' - Celtic fans destroy 25-yr-old after draw against St Johnstone
By Harry Sykes
Nir Bitton was once again used at centre-back by Celtic in their 1-1 draw against St Johnstone on Saturday – and fans took to Twitter to pan his display.
The midfielder, 25, has been deployed as an emergency centre-back due in the early weeks of the season due to an injury crisis.
Senior trio Jozo Simunovic, Erik Sviatchenko and Dedryck Boyata were once again omitted for Saturday’s clash at Parkhead, although the former was an unused substitute.
Manager Brendan Rodgers selected right-back Mikael Lustig and Bitton as his centre-back pairing, which did not go down well with supporters as the home side struggled against Tommy Wright’s side.
Bitton bore the brunt of much of the criticism, as supporters tore into him for his ponderous build-up play and propensity for errors.

Rodgers’ side rescued a point through a 79th minute Callum McGregor goal as they came from behind to extend their unbeaten run in domestic football to 53 games.
St Johnstone took the lead just before half-time through Steven MacLean, who took advantage of a Craig Gordon error.
Celtic’s failure to take all three points means they skip to second in the league table behind Aberdeen, who won 4-3 at Partick Thistle in a thriller.
In other Celtic news, a major transfer has hit the skids just when it appeared to have been done.
