Celtic released their six-month interim report today and announced pre-tax profit of £19.5m for the period up to and including December.
The Daily Record reports that the results are “stunning” with revenue up 17 per cent to £71.5million – up from £61.2million.
Chairman Ian Bankier has put much of the success down to one man – Brendan Rodgers – who has steered them to the lucrative group stages of the Champions League two years running.
“We are delighted with the sustained period of success on the pitch, as Brendan Rodgers, his backroom team and the players have built on their achievements of last season”, he said.
“They are to be congratulated on qualification for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League for a second successive season, for retaining the League Cup and for the record breaking 69 game domestic unbeaten run.”
On hearing the news, Celtic fans poured onto Twitter and made their feelings known with memes.
Some fans also couldn’t help having a dig at Rangers, who ironically announced they had secured an overdraft reported to be less than £3million.
One said that they could buy Alfredo Morelos, the striker who was reported to be the subject of an £8million bid on deadline day from a Chinese club.
Here is a selection of the best reactions from Celtic fans on hearing the news that their club is flush with cash:
