'Garbage', 'Ha ha ha' - Celtic fans react as shock name emerges for Rangers manager job

Steven Gerrard has been linked with the Rangers managerial job should current manager Graeme Murty exit the club this summer – and Celtic fans are having a field day after hearing the news.

Odds on Gerrard taking over at Ibrox have been slashed from 25/1 to 8/1 according to a report in The Sun.

Murty is under increasing pressure from the Light Blues to come up with a result against the Hoops this weekend if he is going to stand any chance of remaining in the Ibrox post.

After the defeat against the Bhoys back in March when the Gers were on Brendan Rodgers’ side’s coattails, and then a record-equalling loss at home to Kilmarnock, Rangers’ season has derailed.

And now, on the back of yet another humiliation courtesy of the Hoops, the knives are sharper than ever from Light Blues supporters who want to see the back of Murty.

There are a number of names in the running should the position become vacant.

Graham Potter from Swedish club Ostersund is the favourite while Frank de Boer is at 5/1.

Rodgers’ side can seal the title – their seventh-in-a-row – against Rangers at Celtic Park this weekend in the Scottish Premiership and give their fans even more reason to gloat over their Glasgow city rivals.

Here is a selection of Twitter reactions from Celtic fans who simply cannot believe what is being written:
