Celtic fans react on Twitter as 17-year-old named in squad to face Hearts

By Matt Farr

Celtic have named teenage forward Jack Aitchison in their matchday squad to face Hearts on Sunday – and fans on Twitter have backed him to win them the title.

The 17-year-old was named on the bench in the absence of injured goalscoring duo Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths, as Celtic released their confirmed line-up on their official Twitter account prior to kick-off.

Aitchison has once previously featured for Celtic’s first team this season, earning a brief cameo appearance in the 4-0 victory over their upcoming opponents back in January, where he bagged an assist.

He has been in impressive form for Celtic’s youth side this term, netting five goals from 12 appearances, and could get an opportunity to impress Brendan Rodgers amid their depleted goalscoring resources.

Rodgers is unable to call upon his usual third-choice striker Nadir Ciftci, with the Turkish forward currently out on loan at Pogon Szczecin.

But Celtic fans on Twitter are eagerly anticipating Aitchison coming off the bench to score the winning goal that sends them to a sixth consecutive Scottish Premiership title.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Celtic require a win against Hearts to take an unassailable lead at the top of the league and lift the league title.

Their imminent success comes as little surprise given their sheer dominance in the league this term, having gone the entire campaign unbeaten.

Their unbeaten record also stretches to domestic cup competitions, where they have won the Scottish League Cup, whilst they are also firmly on course to repeat extend their haul in the Scottish Cup.
