By Will Butcher

Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight after manager Brendan Rodgers agreed terms to sign a new contract with the Hoops.

Rodgers, 44, has put pen to paper on a new four-year deal with the 48-time Scottish champions after a sublime first season in charge at Parkhead.

The former Liverpool and Swansea manager has enjoyed a trophy-laden first season at Celtic Park since his move north, winning both the Scottish League Cup and the league title.

Celtic revealed the news on their official website, which could now see Rodgers be the man to beat Rangers’ record of nine Scottish Premiership titles in a row with Celtic currently on six.

Rodgers has guided Celtic to domination over Scottish football by winning the league title with seven games to go, after the Hoops secured the title with a 5-0 win over Hearts on Tynecastle.
