Forgotten Celtic man Scott Allan, who is currently on loan at Dundee, could be set to join Hibernian on loan as part of a deal which would allow Scott Bain to move to Celtic, according to a report.
The Daily Mail’s live transfer blog (31/01 11:56) on their website are claiming that as Celtic want to sign Dundee goalkeeper Bain – who is currently on loan at Hibernian – they will let Allan leave Dundee and go to Hibernian.
This complicated deal would see Allan, who has been dubbed a flop since signing for Celtic return to the side the Hoops signed him from in 2015, whist the Bhoys would land a goalkeeper who would replace the injured Craig Gordon, having been ruled out of action for three months.
Football Insider verdict
This move can only be good for Allan, whose career has stifled badly since he was signed by then Hoops manager Ronny Deila in 2015. Perhaps returning to Hibernian will allow him to rekindle his career, he is still only 26-years-old. As for Bain, it seems that the Hoops will be signing a goalkeeper with both experience and age on his side. He will provide competition to Dorus de Vries straight away. One interesting aspect will be the length of the deal, as if it is only until the end of the season then it must be regarded as a stopgap signing until Gordon returns. In any case, Brendan Rodgers will be pleased to get another goalkeeper on his books.
