Celtic idol ‘feels sorry for’ Rangers amid ‘big’ Malik Tillman claim
Frank McAvennie “feels sorry for” Rangers ahead of the summer transfer window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said the Gers are always linked with potential “wonderkids” that don’t quite turn up and insisted they won’t fork out for Tillman.
As quoted by the Daily Record (1 April), Light Blues boss Michael Beale revealed that the club are holding discussions with Tillman’s parent club Bayern Munich over a permanent move.
The 20-year-old’s loan expires in the summer but the Glasgow club have a £5million option to buy included in the deal.
As quoted by The Herald (7 April), the midfielder said that he will speak to both Beale and Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel and ascertain their plans for him before making the decision on his future.
The midfielder has made 43 appearances for the Gers across all competitions this season and has scored 12 goals and provided five assists in those outings.
But McAvennie claimed Tillman won’t be pulling on a Rangers jersey next season.
“I do not think they are going to pay £5m for Tillman,” he told Football Insider.
“He has never turned up for a big game. I am not saying he has not got talent but you have got to turn up for the big games.

“I feel sorry for Rangers at the moment.
“Once again everyone is saying they are going after all these superkids, it is always a wonderkid that is coming to Rangers but we will see what happens.“
