Kenny: I’ve heard this is why ‘disrespectful’ Howe is stalling over Celtic job

Eddie Howe is stalling over the Celtic job because he and his family are not keen on moving so far north.

That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Howe’s agent told Sky Sports that he will wait until the summer before returning to management.

This site revealed earlier in the month that Howe had reached a verbal agreement to become the next Celtic manager.

But Parkhead chiefs are worried that the 43-year-old is having second thoughts after he held talks with Crystal Palace over taking over at Selhurst Park.

Kenny claims that pressure from Howe’s family might have caused him to have doubts over moving to Glasgow.

“Maybe he’s had an inkling of something more local,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“I heard that he struggled with his family moving to Burnley. So to move to Scotland, that’s a long, long way.

“Maybe he’s umming and ahhing about moving that far north and has got a sniff of something more local in the Premier League. It could be Crystal Palace.

“A club like Celtic, who could turn them down? To be flip-flopping, that’s definitely disrespectful.

“But there could be more to it. We don’t know. If he’s spoken to his Mrs, maybe it’s something to do with that.”

Howe resigned from his position at Bournemouth following the club’s relegation at the tail end of last season.

He spent 11 years with the club in total across two spells.
