Celtic-linked Niclas Eliasson has opened talks with Ligue 1 club Nimes, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
It was reported by the Scottish Sun earlier this week that the Hoops had turned their attention to the 24-year-old as they look to recruit a left wing-back by next week.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Nimes are now well placed to prise Eliasson from Bristol City.
Discussions are underway over a deal that would see the Swede leave Ashton Gate ahead of his contract expiring next summer.
City are vulnerable to losing the left-sided star three years after joining from Norrkoping in his homeland.
Eliasson has started their last two league matches and played 95 times in total for the Championship club, scoring seven goals and registering an impressive 21 assists.
It is the latest twist in the Hoops’ search for a wide man who can provide cover and competition for Greg Taylor.
Celtic loaned out Boli Bolingoli to Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir earlier this month to free up space in the squad and on the wage bill.
Strengthening that position is a priority for Neil Lennon and the Hoops hierarchy ahead of Monday night’s transfer deadline.
Nimes’ move for Eliasson comes after this site revealed earlier today that Celtic have had a £3million bid for Croatia Under-21 international David Colina knocked back by Hajduk Split.
Talks have also been held with Tottenham about a potential loan deal for Ryan Sessegnon following their £28million signing of Sergio Reguilon.
Celtic have tabled a multi-million loan offer but the Londoners want £5million in fee and wages for the £25million signing from Fulham.
