While Rangers have improved since their new signings arrived at the club in January, one player who Celtic should look to expose and take advantage of is Scotland international Russell Martin.
The 32-year-old centre-back arrived from Norwich on-loan until the end of the season in January, and immediately formed a partnership with David Bates.
Bates has looked the more comfortable of the two, as Martin as been culpable for more than a few goals that the Light Blues have conceded since his arrival at the club.
He was particularly poor in the 5-3 win over Hamilton last month, where he was to blame for two of the goals scored by the New Douglas Park side, as Rangers look very shaky in defence against a team battling against relegation.
He seems to struggle when he is on the ball, so the likes of Moussa Dembele and James Forrest should be looking to put Martin under pressure from the first whistle of the game, as an early mistake could make his confidence fall apart.
In a match which may not have many goals – the two Old Firm games so far this season have produced only two goals so far – any mistake or slight error must be punished, and that’s what the Hoops should be looking to do when they come up against Martin.
