Celtic may be left with ‘egg on their face’ after Tottenham manager development – Mills
Celtic could be left with egg on their face if Tottenham appoint Scott Parker as their new manager, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England defender suggested Eddie Howe could then be lured by Fulham meaning the Hoops miss out on their top manager target.
Football Insider revealed earlier this week Daniel Levy “thinks the world” of Parker and have made a behind-the-scenes move to assess his interest in the Spurs job.
However, he had second thoughts and the Celtic hierarchy believe he is hedging his bets to see how things play out in England.
“He’s waiting to see if someone else in England wants him first, that’s probably what he’s holding out for,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“He’s thinking ‘Let’s just get to the end of the season, let’s see what happens with the Tottenham job, let’s see what that opens up.’
“Does Scott Parker leave Fulham? Would Fulham be an attractive proposition for Eddie Howe?
“Who’s going to Crystal Palace? Who’s going to Burnley?
“We haven’t really started the managerial merry-go-round yet. He’ll be waiting to see what happens first.
“Definitely, it could leave Celtic with egg on their face.”
Football Insider revealed Howe had held talks with Crystal Palace and formed a three-man shortlist as they prepare for life after Roy Hodgson.
However, Burnley boss Sean Dyche has emerged as a frontrunner to take over at Selhurst Park.
In other news, a “brilliant” Celtic starlet may be “answer to problems” after a breakthrough.
