Following on from Jozo Simunovic’s dreadful performance against Partick Thistle, it seems certain that new signing Jack Hendry will make only his second start for the Hoops in their upcoming Europa League clash against Zenit.
January arrival Hendry looks set to partner Kristoffer Ajer at the centre of defence in a pairing that has not yet played together, which is a concern ahead of such a big match.
The Hoops are fortunate that Ajer managed to overcome the injury he suffered in the recent 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock, otherwise they would be really struggling for numbers in defence.
Normally it would be Dedryck Boyata in defence, but as he is out injured and Simunovic is so badly out of form then it looks like the 22-year-old signing from Dundee will make his European debut for the Hoops.
One person who will have complete faith in Hendry’s ability is Brendan Rodgers, after all the manager had no reservations in giving him his debut against Kilmarnock only a few days after joining Celtic.
After he missed the game against Partick due to being cup tied, Hendry will now be thrown into the deep end, with European progression on the line.
It is a test which he will need to pass to give the Bhoys a chance of defeating the Russian side.
