Giakoumakis slotting in for Celtic debut on Saturday after what ‘I’ve seen’ – Campbell

Georgios Giakoumakis will be desperate to make his debut for free-scoring Celtic against Ross County on Saturday.

So says ex-Premier League hitman Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the new Hoops signing.

Giakoumakis joined on a five-year deal and it is understood that Celtic paid VVV-Venlo £2.5million for the centre-forward’s services.

Only two teams in the Scottish Premiership have conceded more goals than Ross County this season.

Celtic meanwhile are the division’s top scorers with 13 goals after just four matches.

And Campbell insists that Giakoumakis will be raring to get in on the act after what he has seen from Ange Postecolgou’s side this season.

“He’s coming straight in, he has to,” the ex-striker told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs.

“Edouard was a starter and he has come in to replace him. There’s no point spending that kind of money if you’re not going to put him straight into the starting XI.

“They have been doing pretty well this season, even though they lost the Old Firm match. I’ve seen that one thing they definitely do well is create chances.

“A new striker going in there will be desperate to get involved. Ross County at home? I’ll have some of that, definitely.”

Giakoummakis was prolific for Venlo last term and finished as the Eredivisie’s top scorer with 26 goals in 30 appearances.

The 26-year-old also has also netted once in six appearances for the Greek national team after he made his debut last year.
