Celtic news: Pundit drops ‘massive’ Brendan Rodgers claim as Twitter image emerges

Brendan Rodgers needs a “massive” start to his Celtic tenure.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton insisted that if Rodgers does not get off to a flying start, the fans will have a problem.

On 19 June, the Hoops confirmed that Rodgers has been appointed at the new manager on a three-year contract and replaces Ange Postecoglou at the helm.

Just over five minutes after the announcement, fan group the Green Brigade shared an image to Twitter of a banner they held up following the Northern Irishman’s initial departure in 2019, branding him “a fraud”.

But Hutton insisted most fans won’t be bothered about the past.

I think most of it will be forgotten,” he told Football Insider.

In the back of Celtic minds they still remember him leaving to go to what they saw as a lesser team.

The draw of the Premier League is massive and he went down there won the FA Cup, two fifth place finishes so he did a decent job.

I think if he brings in one or two quality signings, he does well in the Champions League, gets them through the group stages, the first Old Firm is a massive thing.

It will be forgotten if he goes in and has a massive start. If it starts slow and they do not have a good start to the Champions League then that could turn into a problem.

In other news, Celtic star has agreed to join Man City-owned club.
