'Not totally convinced' - Celtic fans urge club to axe summer signing for clash v Rangers

By James Black

Celtic fans have urged Brendan Rodgers to axe big-money summer signing Olivier Ntcham from the starting XI for Saturday’s Old Firm clash with Rangers at Ibrox as Premiership action resumes.

The 21-year-old only joined Celtic in July for £4.5million but it seems the Parkhead faithful have lost patience with him ahead of the trip across Glasgow to play their bitter rivals.

Ntcham started the season well but his recent performances has seen fans calling for Stuart Armstrong to be restored to the centre of midfield in his place.

The former Man City player may benefit from dropping to the bench as he tries to regain his form for Rodgers’ side.

With Celtic desperate to inflict as much damage as possible to their rivals title hopes tomorrow, fans want to see Ntcham axed and a more attack-minded player in his place.

One supporter admitted that he is “not totally convinced” by the summer signing.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Celtic go into Saturday’s Old Firm game on the back of a 56-game unbeaten run in domestic competitions and a win for the Hoops would extend their lead over Rangers to eight points.

After struggling with injuries for much of the early part of the campaign, Rodgers is finally getting close to having a full strength squad available with Jozo Simunovic and Dedryck Boyata both looking likely to play.

The Scottish champions travel to face Anderlecht in midweek in their second group game in this season’s Champions League game and Rodgers may have one eye on that when it comes to his selection at Ibrox this weekend.

Ntcham has made 11 appearances this season, scoring twice, with his last outing coming against Dundee in the League Cup win on Wednesday.

In other Celtic news, there has been a major injury blow ahead of the Hoops’ upcoming big fixture.
