Celtic player ratings v Barcelona: Defender makes costly error

Football Insider rates the Celtic players after their 2-0 defeat against Barcelona in Wednesday’s Champions League match at Celtic Park.
Craig Gordon 6 – Can’t be blamed for either of Lionel Messi’s goals and made a fantastic save from a close-range Luis Suarez header.
Mikael Lustig 6 – Was involved in a fiery encounter with Neymar and was steady for most of the game.
Jozo Simunovic 6 – Looked strong in defence and enjoyed a fairly assured performance, was one of several caught out by Messi’s movement for his opening goal.
Erik Sviatchenko 6 – Battled well against Luis Suarez during the match and made some good clearances.

Emilio Izaguirre 5 – Gave away a needless penalty for a foul on Luis Suarez, with Lionel Messi giving Barcelona a comprehensive 2-0 lead.
Scott Brown 7 – Strong tackles in midfield and gave a typical captain’s performance in defeat.
Stuart Armstrong 6 – Looked assured alongside Scott Brown and tracked back well, but will be disappointed with his contribution going forward.
Callum McGregor 5 – Had a left-footed chance on the edge of the box which lacked conviction, but was unable to offer too much going forward.
Tom Rogic 5 – Looked positive on the ball and tried to link up with Moussa Dembele, but failed to unlock the Barcelona defence.
Scott Sinclair 6 – Tested Barcelona right-back Sergi Roberto with some positive dribbles, but an injury forced him off at half-time.
Moussa Dembele 5 – Battled well with Gerard Pique and had a strong effort saved in first-half, missed a free header to level the score at 1-1.
