It seems certain that Celtic defender Marvin Compper will make his Old Firm debut against Rangers next Sunday, after the player came through his Hoops debut against Morton with flying colours.
The 32-year-old January signing from Leipzig made his long-awaited debut for the Bhoys after suffering an injury during the winter break.
Aside from a slack pass to a Morton player in the opening moments of the match, Compper was a composed and assured presence at the back for the Bhoys.
He played with all the experience you would expect from a player who has played in Germany and Italy, and he will be ready for the Old Firm derby.
It seems likely that he will be playing as part of a back three alongside Krisoffer Ajer and Jozo Simunovic, and Brendan Rodgers will be working with the players all week to ensure that they are able to deal with the threat Rangers will pose.
Compper will be a big help to both of his team-mates, as Ajer is still only 19-years-old and Simunovic is struggling badly with his form at the moment, Rodgers will be hoping that the German can guide his fellow centre-backs through the match.
It may be a gamble playing Compper in such a big match, but both the player and his manager will be confident that he will have a positive impact on the Hoops performance.
