Pundit hails reported Celtic talks with No2 who'd be 'amazing' for Postecoglou
Shaun Maloney knows the “DNA” of Celtic and that would make him the perfect foil for Ange Postecoglou.
That is according to ex-England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the current Belgium assistant manager and former Hoops winger.
The Daily Record reported on 31 May that Celtic had held talks with Maloney over a Parkhead return in a coaching role.
Robinson insisted that Maloney’s experience could be vital as Celtic undergo a period of transition under a manager in his first major role in European football.
He also admitted he was baffled by the club’s decision to let Scott Brown go to Aberdeen as he could have fulfilled a similar role.

“They need someone who knows the DNA of the club,” he told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“If they’re doing that with Shaun Maloney, it makes the agreement to let Scott Brown leave even more amazing.
“I can’t understand why they didn’t have Brown as part of the coaching staff going forward with a new manager in.
“They obviously didn’t know that Postecoglou was going to be the manager at the time, they thought it was going to be Eddie Howe and that the structures were going to be different.
“But it’s a very clever move getting someone in that knows and is passionate about the club.
“It’s wise. The manager is unproven in Europe. He’s got a good record but I had to look him up to find out what he’s done and what he’s achieved.”
