Kenny: New Ralston deal is 'massive sign' 10-year Rangers dynasty on the way
Anthony Ralston’s new Celtic deal is a “massive sign” that could pave the way for an astonishing 10-year Rangers title dynasty.
That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Scottish Sun reported on 20th June that Celtic have triggered a one-year extension in the right-back’s contract.
The 22-year-old’s Parkhead deal was originally due to expire at the end of the month.
Ralston made just one appearance for Celtic in 2020-21 after spending the previous campaign on loan with St. Johnstone.
But he is the only natural right-back on the books at Celtic and Kenny suggests his new deal may mean he will play a first-team role next term.
The former Republic of Ireland shot-stopper also claimed that the renewal could reveal something about Celtic’s finances.

“It could be a massive sign that he has a big role to play next year,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“That’s the way Celtic are going at the moment because they seem to be quite a way behind Rangers.
“If they have done this deal, it signals to me that he might be their only option.
“Maybe they can’t spend money and they have to settle for someone like Anthony to play at right-back even if the fans aren’t too impressed.
“But if that is the only sort of route they’ve got, that’s the only thing they can do financially.
“If Rangers keep going the way they’re going it could be the other way around. It could be nine more years before Celtic get it [the title] back.“
